GENERAL NEWS

Training

During the season Mid-Week Training work is usually with our UEFA qualified coach Dave Bowker. Wednesdays at 19.00 at the Alder School Asto Pitchs (Address. Mottram Old Road Gee Cross Hyde Hyde Cheshire SK14 5NJ) ..All are welcome… and its free!!! Make sure you are at the pitch for 18.50 so we can start straight away…

Preseason Training always starts around end of June and every Wednesday and Saturday afternoons thereafter until the season starts and Dark Nights Set In…

18.30 Garden Street Playing Fields.. then once the Dark Nights set in we move to the 3G court at the back of Copley Sports Centre. Wednesday 7.00 – 8.00. There is no charge for training.

Subscriptions

We have decided to retain matchday subs at £5 with a reduced rate for substitutes, students and unemployed at the manager’s discretion.

Once again there will be NO signing on charge.

This is still cheaper than most clubs and training is free. But NO PAY NO PLAY !!!!!

Commitment

We want to take the club forward and this year we have genuine optimism that we have the right number and calibre of players to do so. We have two teams but one club.

Managers have certain expectations of players:

·               we want you to attend training

·               we want you to be responsible for your fitness

·               you need to confirm match day arrangements

·               you need to advise if you are not available for selection with as much notice as possible.

Injuries

Newton has entered into an arrangement with an excellent local physiotherapist who will treat our players for injuries. This is at the early stages but I would want a one-off payment from all players of £5 or £10.

Respect Campaign

The Lancs and Cheshire League are fully committed to the Respect Charter by promoting high standards of behaviour. All clubs have been told what standards players and officials are expected to achieve. If there is ANY dissent shown to referees or opposing officials whatsoever, refs have been instructed to take action which will no doubt be upheld and supported. From this season as well as us assessing the performance of referees, refs will be marking clubs.

What does this mean for players?

There will be a pre-match handshake between the starting 11 in both teams.

The captain must be identified by wearing an armband. He will have no special status or privileges but will have responsibility for the behaviour of players.

Only the captain can approach and speak to the referee during the game.

If a ball goes out of play and you think it should be in our favour but goes the other way – get on with it!

If you don’t get a free kick you think you deserve – get on with it!

I have yet to see a single occasion when a referee changes his decision because a player shouts at him.

It is a no brainer! What is more likely to happen is we will get the next 50/50 decision and you won’t get booked or sent off.

Is it worth being fined?

You should shake hands with the referee after a game.

When we are at home, the referee should be invited back to the pub. He can buy his own beer but it would be an opportunity for you to speak to him in a calmer situation.

The club is behind Respect and will not support any player who acts in a manner which contravenes the campaign without a very good case.

We have a formal Management Committee who work together and we have improved the quality and number of players within the club.

Code of Conduct
